If you're a policy maker/wonk, thank you for your interest in HVAC 2.0.
We've been getting an increasing number of requests for our time. Unfortunately, we don't have the resources to respond to these requests.
So we built this page with free resources to come up to speed on HVAC 2.0:
Hopefully these are useful resources for bringing yourself up to speed on HVAC 2.0, and getting a clear picture of how our process and The Church of the Kitchen Table might fit your program.
Much of our content you can deploy right away with attribution. HVAC 101 is a simple comparison of the HVAC in a car to the HVAC in a house. After reading it most consumers step up to higher levels of HVAC (and often heat pumps). The HVAC 2.0 and Nate the House Whisperer YouTube channels are packed with content as well.
HVAC 2.0 requires a mindset shift for everyone - contractors, homeowners, and policy makers. We highly recommend reading or listening to books about the Sandler sales process, which HVAC 2.0 is based upon. For policy makers it requires sublimating your goals to those of contractors and homeowners who sell/do and buy the work, respectively. We call this worshipping at the Church of the Kitchen Table.

So we built this page with free resources to come up to speed on HVAC 2.0:
- This episode of The Energy Gang podcast
- The Boundary Spanners Podcast that connects blue collar boots on the ground issues to white collar policy.
- The free Electrify Everything Course (for the love of Pete, take this, it's 10 years of experience boiled down into 5 hours),
- This presentation on the very narrow path to scaling residential electrification,
- The 3H heat pump policy proposal as well as the NYT article and this op-ed about heat pumps,
- and this OG article on Greentech Media about electrification that still applies.
Hopefully these are useful resources for bringing yourself up to speed on HVAC 2.0, and getting a clear picture of how our process and The Church of the Kitchen Table might fit your program.

This isn't an easy turn, but is critical if we want to succeed. The Prime Directive of HVAC 2.0 is to provide excellent experiences for both contractors and homeowners, that will need to become your prime directive as well. This almost entirely rules out downstream incentive programs, only midstream and upstream incentives can avoid screwing up the kitchen table transaction (hence the 3H proposal.)
This presentation (also linked above) shows what the Church of the Kitchen Table looks like, or check the webinar based on this presentation that Nate gave to the Building Decarbonization Coalition in January 2021.
If/when you get stuck, or if you would like to speak with Nate (our CEO) or Abhi (our policy director), you can schedule 60 minutes for $250 one time. Before you schedule, we highly recommend working through the resources, particularly The Electrify Everything Course. The $250 meeting is a one time shot, use it wisely.

After this initial meeting there is a $2,000 starting retainer if you would like further access to us. Click here to schedule it. That buys two 90-120 minute meetings with the HVAC 2.0 team. There is no deliverable, it is an exploration of the path forward and a chance to tackle your questions. If nothing else, think of it as a Patreon for the HVAC 2.0 mission.
In both of those cases, we really prefer it if you have worked through as much of our free content as you can.
Consulting takes us away from our core mission, and the return on investment for both us and you comes from helping you as efficiently as possible. We want to help you with the tough stuff, not the 101 stuff. So please attempt to work your way through as much of the DIY/free resources above before requesting our time.
Thanks!
